Formlessness updated

After Lynton’s talk today on ‘Language and Temporary Utopias’, I felt instantly inspired to produce more work. The Formlessness Manifesto I have been working on over the Easter period has become somewhat of a focal point of my work. More importantly, the climate that we are now in has elevated this piece even more, in particular its response to the capitalist hegemony of corporations and brands that are feeding off this pandemic. In an updated version of my manifesto, I have instead of writing the ’10 commandments’ as in my recent manifesto I have updated it to 13, an ‘unlucky’ for some and ironically still religious.

I wrote this first on a translucent piece of material, then decided to make into a sculpture as seen above. The wood, iron weights and brick work are all reminiscent of patriarchal white capitalist society.
