GAME OVER Alan Powdrill
hIn March 2020 all sport in the UK was stopped, along with much of normal life. Hackney Marshes in east London has one of the biggest concentrations of municipal football pitches in Europe. Organised football there fell silent.
Game Over is an allegorical illustration of my feelings during lockdown when the whole world came to a sudden halt as life was put on pause. It also reflects the political decisions made in our name under the guise of an emergency medical distraction. Power has been more tightly secured and the status quo enhanced as the media and public were hypnotised by the dreadful death toll and economic hardship.
