During lockdown I’ve become interested in hiding identity and what happens when it’s disguised, destroyed or covered up.  Taking the painted portrait as a starting point, what happens when it’s defaced, disfigured or made unrecognisable ?  Does it transform into something else, a non portrait or a former likeness. Does the destruction enhance or detract from the original ?
